ChatGPT has taken the world by storm and millions of people have started using it as everything from a search engine to a teacher and even an assistant to write code.
However, ChatGPT presents one of the biggest opportunities ever for content creators(much like Jasper.ai), and that’s for generating high-quality, comparatively accurate content with just a few keystrokes.
You can utilize ChatGPT to supercharge your content creation workflow, essentially removing all the hard parts(basic research) and playing around with the outputs to piece together a pretty decent article.
Can ChatGPT produce a ready-to-go article?
ChatGPT can produce something to get you going, but it’s not good enough to publish as is.
I tried telling ChatGPT to “Write a 1000 word article on how to use GPT chat to write an article.”
Here’s the output I got:

This output was pretty good, and generated about 869 words, which was quite close to the 1000 words I was targeting.
However, this is not the intent I had in mind. I was actually planning on something regarding how to write an introduction, how to write the body of your post, and how to write the conclusion.
Instead, the steps that were output by ChatGPT were a little different. There were some interesting points covered that I would not have thought of, so that’s definitely a plus.
How to utilize ChatGPT in your content creation workflow
ChatGPT is a great way to take a sledgehammer to writers’ block.
Instead of relying on the AI for the direction of the article, it’s better to massage the AI and prompt it to produce what you’re looking for.
In many cases, that will mean providing a much more detailed prompt. The more detail you can provide in your prompt, the better the output will be.
Let’s try the above article again, but with a more detailed prompt:
“Write a 1000 word article on how to use GPT chat to write an article. First, write a 100 word introduction. Next, outline the steps you need to take. Step 1: write an introduction. Step 2: Create an outline. Step 3: Write meaningful prompts under each outline. (Note: meaningful prompts ask for specific information). Step 4: Go back and rework some of the sentences to simplify them. Step 5: Write a conclusion. After the steps have been written, conclude the article with a 75 word paragraph.”

The introduction that ChatGPT produced with my earlier input was pretty good. Using descriptive prompts like “Write an introduction to an article about…The article will cover the following topics…” should come up with a good introduction that you can use as-is or modify a little to escape AI content detectors.
Then you can start working on the meat of the article.
Fleshing out your subheadings with ChatGPT
The first heading I asked ChatGPT to cover was “how to write an introduction with ChatGPT.” The output covered most of the basics, though I wanted to go into a bit more detail.
To do this, I can simply ask ChatGPT to treat the heading as a standalone article and generate some output:

Change your prompts to get better outputs
Even though the output beats around the bush for writing a good introduction for an article, it doesn’t highlight how it can be done with ChatGPT.
This suggests that ChatGPT could not understand my prompt, and modifying the prompt may elicit a better response. For simplicity’s sake, I will also reduce the desired output to 300 words.
Here’s the new prompt I used to flesh out the second heading , “Writing an introduction”:

Clearly, this output is much better than the previous one. It’s good enough to use as the actual body of the article, provided you polish it a little.

Now that you have one section written and ready to go, it’s time to repeat this process for the remaining subheadings.
As you saw above, remember to use specific prompts that include some detail about what you’re expecting ChatGPT to produce, and don’t be afraid to tweak your prompts if you’re not happy with the output.
If you’re writing about a technical topic, you can copy/paste some tech specs into your prompt. To ensure that ChatGPT does not repeat what you wrote verbatim, specify that it must paraphrase the points.

Some points are repeated, but otherwise, it’s pretty decent. It makes the connections between points where required and provides a decent picture to the reader.
Other neat ways to utilize ChatGPT in your writing workflow
ChatGPT is excellent at summarizing and simplifying.
If you have a piece of content that you feel is too technical for an average reader to understand, you can ask ChatGPT to simplify it into easily readable language.
To demonstrate, I’m going to grab a paragraph from Wikipedia, put it into Hemingway, and then ask ChatGPT to simplify it.
According to Hemingway, this is Post-Grad level!

ChatGPT is an amazing tool that you can utilize to really speed up your writing workflow. It’s a great way to remove writer’s block, though you can’t completely rely on it to create content. Most of the outputs are very easily detectable as AI content, so if Google (probably) is giving less weight to AI content, you’d best edit it to give it a human touch.
